Ports used by UsVox Hosted PBX user devices
Our advice is to always disable Router or Firewall ‘SIP ALG’ before you begin to open ports on your network security settings, if your Router or Firewall don’t have any disabling for SIP ALG choices we strongly advise you to contact your Router or Firewall technical support and let them do the work they are expert on this matter.
The following are the ports and protocols that Hosted PBX user devices use.

This process can take up to 6 weeks depending on your current carrier. An LOA (Letter of Agency) is needed to initiate an LNP (local number port). See the LOA FAQ for more details.

Can I make calls to 911 Service?
Yes, but in order to enable the E911 Service, you have to register the phone number(s) that you use for caller identification (CID).
Calling 911 using VoIP services is different from calling 911 using traditional landline service and some situations may interfere with the E911 Service response.
When you place a call from a registered phone number with the E911 Service, this call will be associated with the physical address related to the phone number you are calling from.
If you place a call to the E911 Service from an unregistered phone number or device, you will have to provide the address where the emergency is need it. In this case you will be charged with a fee of $350.00 for each call made

How it works?
Just like a desktop PC is connected to the internet by a network cable a Hosted Internet PBX similarly works in the same manner. Because your PC is connected to a router all you have to do is simply press a button and your accessibility to the internet is granted. So long as your service is up and running you will be able to surf, send email, conduct online video conferences, and just about anything else you might need or want to do on the internet.
So in concept your IP phone is designed like a mini-computer to act as a fully functional business telephone. The IP phone plugs into your internet router using a regular network cable and once turned on can make calls, forward calls, hold calls, transfer calls, check voice mail, and perform all the functional tasks you expect out of a business phone. As long as the IP phone has internet connection it will be fully functioning.
This allows an IP phone to work without geographical boundaries, enabling it to be taken anywhere in the world that has an internet connection.
Hosted Internet PBX service does not consume any notable bandwidth until you make an external phone call. Usage includes checking voice mail and dialing internal extensions within different networks. At the time you receive or make an external phone call the bandwidth usage will be approximately 90kbps (kilobits per second).
If you have 2 external calls running at the same time the bandwidth consumed will be 180kbps until either one of the calls hangs up, at which point the consumption of bandwidth drops down. This means you will take the maximum amount of external calls that your company receives at the same time, and multiply by 90kbps.
Other network setting must be taken consideration, like disabling SIP-ALG on the Firewall, setting routing tables (QoS) to improves quality, etc.
